I am currently on Quel'thalas

Previous guilds and reasons for leaving them:
I am admittedly quite new to the game, having only started playing towards the end of TBC, and only getting past 70 after the release of WOTLK.

I levelled in a casual guild called Is A Muppet, when I reached level 80 and got a taste of raiding I decided I would like to pursue this more and started off by attempting to push my casual guild into 10 man and a some of 25 man raids by organising them myself and leading.

However after I realised this was going nowhere with the players we had, I joined a more serious 25 man guild called Underworld who later merged with another to form Quantum. With this guild I progressed through Ulduar and started TotGC, before I had to stop raiding due to real life commitments and having to play with a pretty bad connection.

Shortly after the release of ICC I joined a more casual 10 man guild called Redux, and more recently joined Misclicked with a few old friends, including Hwangson who is also applying here. I am now free from real life commitments which stopped me raiding so much and would love to be able to get back into raiding properly!

Why do you choose Imperium, and what do you expect?
I am looking for a guild with which I can see the most challenging content in the game. I would expect a friendly but focused guild, with a good community of players who know what they are doing.

Previous raiding experience (also pre wotlk and pre tbc).
As I mentioned earlier, I have only raided in WOTLK so my Vanilla/TBC clears in level 80 gear probably aren't of much interest to you!
For a long time I raided on my mage as my main, and so a lot of my progress is split between the two. I switched to playing paladin as soon as I really had the opportunity to, as I enjoy healing so much more.
WOTLK Progress: Naxx 15/15, EOE 1/1, OS3D 1/1, Ulduar 14/14 (Inc 10 man Glory and a few 25 man HMs), TotGC 2/5 25 man, 5/5 10 man, ICC - 12/12 Normal 10, 9/12 Heroic 10 and 7/12 Normal 25.

I know that my recent progress is probably not the best due to me being unable to maintain more than 1-2 nights a week raiding until recently. However I have seen all Icecrown Heroic fights except LK, even if unable to kill them and know tactics in detail for every fight in the instance.

Do you enjoy your class and will you play it for a long long time?
I originally started off playing mage, levelling this character as an alt. However when I got to 80 and was able to start healing in raid situations I realised I found it much more challenging and rewarding than playing a DPS class. Unfortunately I haven’t always been able to play this as my main as much as I would have liked to until recently, by which time I was unable to play at higher levels. I love paladins’ healing style, while some may say it is ridiculously easy I find it can be one of the most interesting. I also enjoy the range of damage reduction abilities available, and being clever in using them is something which I think makes healing as a paladin much more fun. My intention is to play this character for as long as possible, I generally only end up playing mage instead if I’ve been limited by a PUG’s needs or something like that.

How often do you play?
Generally every day in the evenings, some daytimes too.

Will you attend at least 4 raids regularly every week?
Yes

Please provide us with a screenshot of your UI, and WWS report of any recent raids you have participated in

Slightly old, I tend to modify my UI in some way every 5 minutes. I should probably point out that this was on my old, barely better than a piece of string connection - hence the ~700ms on the cast bar!

Unfortunately I don’t have any reports available at the moment.

Do you see yourself as a fast learner on new encounters?
I would say I am definitely a fast learner and I am always prepared for every encounter, from learning tactics well in advance to ensuring I have all the correct reagents/pots etc. on me. I am always aware of the raid around me, and especially conscious of any sources or incoming damage which will need to be countered. I feel responsible if someone ever dies and always try to do everything I can possibly to keep the raid alive. I feel that one of the most fun things about new encounters is the need to improvise rather than just following through the same routine repetitively, and this is something I especially enjoy.

What are your strong sides in raids, and where do you feel you can improve?
I am a dedicated player who always strives to improve. I am a fast learner and learn from my mistakes. While I am able to think for myself and improvise when needed in encounters, I follow instructions and trust the guild leadership to lead the raids rather than fighting against them, and I take criticism if it is needed. And of course I don't complain after wiping a couple of times!

I think that one area I could improve in is perfecting my healing priorities, learning who needs the most healing and when. There have been a few times where I’ve wasted a holy light on a mage who’s just iceblocked. However this is something I’ m always trying to work on in any raid.

Other information that you want to share:

My play style on a typical fight:
My main healing spell is of course Holy Light, which I usually end up pretty much spamming due to its huge throughput and relative mana efficiency. I always keep Beacon of Light on the tank I am assigned to, and Sacred Shield on one tank depending on whether any other players are using it. I usually reserve Holy Shock for any time when I need to be moving, combined with an instant Flash Of Light if available in order to keep my healing output up despite being on the move. In order to keep mana up, I tend to use Divine Plea on every cooldown, counteracting the healing reduction with 2-piece bonus/wings/trinket. If mana is very short then I can always use lay on hands on myself for a small boost.

In the case of large raidwide damage, I can use Divine Sacrifice/Guardian or Aura Mastery to reduce this, and talented Lay on Hands or Hand of Sacrifice for single target damage reduction. Hand of Protection can be useful in certain circumstances such as Saurfang, as well as other abilities I can use to help out when needed. While HPS isn’t exactly the best way to measure healing, I do tend to cry inside a bit if I am not top of the meters (perhaps a habit left over from playing a DPS class too much :/).

Thanks for taking time to read my application, hope to hear from you soon :)

Hiya,

I can't find many real faults here, so props to you!

I'd recommend changing the helm enchant and perhaps swapping sliver for tears of the vanquished.

and more recently joined Misclicked with a few old friends, including Hwangson who is also applying here.

I have to ask, just in case - is it a both or nothing scenario with your friend?

Thanks!

Thanks very much :)

Not quite sure why I ever got that helm enchant rather than the mp5 one, must've done that at 5am being half asleep and never thought to change it! With trinkets I tend to swap between sliver and tears. Without tears I find myself being fine for mana on many fights, in which case the spellpower from sliver becomes more useful than an int trinket.
Perhaps one day my luck will improve and I'll get solace!

And no it's not a both or nothing scenario :)

Cool beans, thanks for clearin' that up!

I'm sure you're aware we've had another Holy Paladin app at the same time, so we'll have to discuss this one quite a bit.

Bear with us 8-)

Hiya,

This was really a great app - but unfortunately we really cannot fit you in right now without constantly keeping someone on the bench, which is something we try to avoid as a guild.

Therefore, going to decline it.

Goodluck in your search for a guild!
