[Declined] Affliction Warlock

Personal info:
Name: Lester March
Age: 16
Location: London

Charachter info:
Name: Veneniferus
Class and spec: Warlock (Affliction)
Professions: Herb 450 (plans to replace with JC), Enchanting 415 (soon 450)
Armory link: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet ... eneniferus

Previous guilds and reasons for leaving them:

Knights of Elysium, I am still currently with KoE and have been raiding with them for a few weeks now. I enjoy the raids when they are on, but currently we are still only farming ICC10 with only 1 ICC25 man per week, and personally I would like to be progressing though harder raid levels. I believe that Imperium would enable me to do so.

Why do you choose Imperium, and what do you expect?

I have been aware of Imperium since I joined Nagrand, back at the start of WoTLK. As I have developed as a player Imperium has always been noticed by me, renowned as the best, or one of the best guilds on Nagrand. Because of this reputation I am intrigued to see how they work and experience one of the top raiding guilds.

Previous raiding experience (also pre wotlk and pre tbc).

I joined a few weeks before WoTLK, so have cannot say I have fully experienced progressive raiding through TBC. However, I have experience in many TBC and pre-TBC raids from having run them for fun.

As for WoTLK raiding experience, I have cleared Naxx, EoE, OS (haven't had the opportunity on this char to go with 3 drakes up), VoA, some of Ulduar normal and HC, as well as ICC10 and 25 (unfortunately have not been able to down LK).

Do you enjoy your class and will you play it for a long long time?

I love affliction warlock, the style of that particular class attracts me to it, much more so than demonology or destruction. It is a hard class to master, but I am constantly determined to improve and develop my understanding of this spec.

How often do you play?

Some would say too much. I am on every day and have a tenancy to play deep into the night without realising.

Will you attend at least 4 raids regularly every week?

There should be no problem with attending at least 4 raids a week.

Please provide us with a screenshot of your UI, and WWS report of any recent raids you have participated in

http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz24 ... W/WoW2.jpg

Do you see yourself as a fast learner on new encounters?

Tactics are not a problem. Before a new encounter I watch videos, and if I have time, read up on tactics as well. It usually it takes me one or two attempts to work out where to stand and how to maximise my dps to fit in with the encounter mechanics.

What are your strong sides in raids, and where do you feel you can improve?

I am a keen player, and enjoy my class a lot. Because of this I am happy to increase my understanding of the affliction talents and push myself to obtain highest level gear and in turn optimise my dps.

As for improvements, gear is an obvious one. Although my gear is ok, it can always be improved, and being a keen raider and active player I plan to do so quickly.

Other information that you want to share:

Aside the raiding aspects, I am starting to take my professions slightly more seriously. I have plans to turn my old DK into a gatherer which can feed my main and another alt with mats for the money making crafts. I am used to spending a few hours a week farming mats for the guild bank, and so will happily do so in this guild to if need be.

Thank you for reading, and I will be awaiting your reply.

Regards
- Lester

Hiya,

Why do you appear to have nothing keybound outside of the default 1-9?

Your enchants are unusual, 15 spirit on chest is not an acceptable enchant. 15 spellpower on cape is not an acceptable enchant.

Gemming seems a little erratic, warlocks don't get pure haste, could you explain your reasoning for this?

While it's obvious you're undergeared, there's things you can do to fill in the weaker slots pretty easily. The crafted 264 caster shoes would be a considerable upgrade. The belt from frost emblems would also be a decent upgrade, as would the cape.

As a note for any future applicants reading this, when you apply we expect you to already have two worthwhile raiding professions for your class. Simply saying you plan to change it, is not sufficient.

Let me hear some feedback on the above please ;)

Thanks!

Morning o/

I think 15 spi on chest is acceptable assuming your playing affliction - or at least it was a few months back.
Personally I'd choose +10.

It's basically a choice between 5 spirit or 10 intellect/10 stamina, the latter seems more beneficial to me. ;)

Hey, thank you for the reply.

I have chosen not to bind the skills above my main skill bar as I have levelled and played other characters with the intent to use those skills as ones to click on, because of this I am simply used to clicking on my something like my trinket when it is needed rather than pressing F3, F4, etc. Personally I find too much keyboard binding confusing, I like to keep things simple as they need to be.

Admittedly when gearing this character I was a little confused regarding gems. I noticed other affliction warlocks walking around and noticed some had insane haste whereas others had insane spellpower. After looking on websites like maxdps.com and other class related forums I decided to pick spell power for the majority but I was still not completely content with my haste. I wanted to stike a bit of a balance between haste and spellpower.

However, after reading yours and others replies I have taken a look at my gems again and am considering changing the current pure haste gems into sp+haste.

I've planned to get the belt next on my frost shopping list, I think it gives more dps than the cloak so I'm going for that first. Deathfrost Boots are currently 6k on AH, and as of right now I don't have that money :(

I don't agree with the philosophy of keeping things simple, I'm more of a perfectionist. Clicking things is slower, there is no reason to argue this as everyone accepts it. If you need to use one of those abilities fast, you're going to use time finding it with your mouse.

If you find gold an issue, how would you cope with regemming new gear when you get it, paying for enchants, paying for respecs etc. As this isn't really a gameplay help forum, I'm not going to go into the basics of making gold, but it's really not difficult in WotLK.

As I've said to the others, we're going to take a while to chat over the new apps and see if we can fit people in to our needs. Bear with us for a couple of days maximum.

Thanks victory_

I can accept that you prefer to keybind skills, it's clear to me that that is how you play. I'm saying that I personally prefer to keep things simple, my mouse is usually around my trinket buttons and I have always played like that. I know for a fact that if I was to suddenly change my play style to having everything keybound I would preform slower, it's simply how I play and what I am used to. I don't see why there is a problem.

I think, its more to do with the the fel armour converting spirit into spellpower + glpyh of life tap buff (kept up 100% as affliction) for further increased results. Which in turn out weights 10intel and 10 stam. I believe thats the logic behind it, or my understanding anyway :) Remember having a conversation with Moro about it awhile back.

The problem is pure reaction times.

Ok, well I will hotkey my trinkets, and I'll give it a go, but I honestly think that after levelling 3 characters in this play style, the adaptation will be rather difficult.
